Young Artists Host Gala to Support Programs for Children with Vision Loss

A group of young performing artists is holding a gala Oct. 10 to support UR Medicine Flaum Eye Institute’s programs to help children with vision loss in Rochester and across the world.

Kids Reaching Hearts Through Performing Arts, an organization of area high school students dedicated to supporting children through artistic expression, has a variety show, dinner with authentic Indian cuisine and auctions at the Indian Community Center in Macedon.

Funds raised will support ¹ó·¡±õ’s Glasses for Kids program locally and the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute Children’s Eye Health Initiative in India, led by Prasad faculty who are also adjunct faculty at FEI.

¹ó·¡±õ’s Glasses for Kids effort provides Rochester schoolchildren free eye exams and prescription eyeglasses, if needed. The program was started with a seed grant from the Glover-Crask Charitable Trust and is funded by donations.

In addition, FEI ophthalmologists and researchers from have partnered with the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute on education, scientific study and innovative care programs that will reach adults and children in underserved regions in India. The fundraiser will help highlight this growing collaboration.
