UR Medicine's new Outpatient Imaging Center MRI suite offers a soothing environment for patients.

UR Medicine is transforming the experience for people undergoing diagnostic imaging testing and introduces the Finger Lakes region鈥檚 first outpatient interventional radiology clinic with the opening of a new Outpatient Imaging Center.

鈥淭his new building dramatically changes the way we deliver leading-edge care using advanced technology to people who travel near and far for UR Medicine expertise,鈥� said聽Mark Taubman, M.D., CEO of聽聽and UR Medicine and dean of the聽School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The 90,000-square-foot, three-story building creates space to relocate outpatient imaging and interventional radiology clinics from聽Strong Memorial Hospital聽on the聽麻豆视频 聽campus to an easily accessible location along East River Road and the I-390 corridor.

A large, bright entrance to the building immediately provides a welcoming environment.听 The reception area includes a fireplace, flat- screen televisions and a coffee bar. There are private check-in areas, personal changing rooms with secure lockers and a new patient tracking system to minimize delays.

The Outpatient Imaging Center includes a dedicated interventional radiology clinic to expand the use of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases. Radiologists will also provide聽x-ray,听computerized tomography聽(CT), ultrasound, both 1.5T (Tesla) and 3T (Tesla)聽magnetic resonance imaging聽(MRI),听fluoroscopy, as well as聽Nuclear Medicine, which includes single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT, SPECT-CT) and positron emission tomography (PET-CT).

UR Medicine Imaging is the largest diagnostic imaging provider in the Finger Lakes region, with a dozen satellite locations in the region in addition to affiliate hospitals. 聽There are dedicated imaging programs at聽Wilmot Cancer Institute,听Golisano Children鈥檚 Hospital聽and in the聽Strong Emergency Department.听

Caregivers provide more than a half-million imaging tests at Strong Memorial Hospital alone. Relocating all adult outpatient imaging away from the hospital will reduce that figure by 50 percent and allow for renovation and expansion of the inpatient imaging care at Strong Memorial.

The River Road building is also home to Golisano Children鈥檚 Hospital鈥檚 new聽William and Mildred Levine Autism Clinic, which opened on the third floor in March. The autism clinic brings specialists in autism, child and adolescent psychiatry and neuromedicine services together for multidisciplinary care for children and teens.
