 UR Medicine has opened a new cardiology practice in the Eastside Family YMCA, expanding access to wellness programs and clinical services within YMCA of Greater Rochester. The new site brings the strength of UR Medicine’s Heart and Vascular care close to home for residents of eastern Monroe County and Wayne County.

Cardiologists Eduardo Arazoza, M.D.,  Thomas Curran, M.D., Mark Hamer, M.D., Seth Jacobson, M.D., Vijay Krishnamoorthy, M.D., Andrew Mathias, M.D., Kevin McGrody, M.D., Christopher Montgomery, M.D., Parag Patel, M.D., Krishna Rao, M.D., Thomas Stuver, M.D., Maurice Vaughan, M.D. and Roy Wiener, M.D., provide comprehensive heart care in offices adjacent to UR Medicine Primary Care’s Medical Associates of Penfield at 1835 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road.

If needed, patients will have access to UR Medicine’s specialty programs in heart rhythm and valve disorders, lipid and hypertension management, cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology, women’s heart health and cardiac imaging.

With 60 cardiology specialists, the largest team in the region, UR Medicine provides the full range of heart care – from the management of hypertension, an early warning sign of heart disease, to the use of mechanical assist devices and heart transplantation

Opening the new cardiology practice advances the collaborative effort the YMCA and UR Medicine began earlier this year. The expanded partnership is making a range of health services available at 17 YMCA locations across the region, meeting the increased needs of the communities served by both organizations. Specific programming will include:

  •  Clinical programs to help patients manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes and arthritis;
  • Sports performance and injury-prevention clinics;
  • Dental health screenings;
  • Pediatric telemedicine care; and
  • Expanded prevention and education services such as influenza clinics, wellness screenings and health talks.

U.S. News & World Report recently gave UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital the highest scores for cardiology and cardiac surgery among hospitals in Upstate New York.
