The 10th annual 鈥淎nd the Beat Goes On鈥�,鈥� benefit dinner for Rochester鈥檚 Harbor House will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Doubletree by Hilton in Henrietta. Harbor House is a home-away-from-home for people who have traveled a long distance for UR Medicine heart and organ transplant and other critical care.聽

The evening includes a grazing dinner along with raffles and auctions for artwork, golf outings, trips and jewelry. All funds will be used to keep the house, located in the Mount Hope Neighborhood, open and affordable. Organizers hope to raise $50,000 to help cover operating expenses for the year.

鈥淗arbor House serves an important need for people traveling long distances for specialty care offered by UR Medicine caregivers,鈥� said Rob Kochik, president of the Harbor House Board of Directors. Last year patients鈥� loved ones received more than 1,350 nights of rest at the home.

A highlight of the evening will be presentation of a video sharing the story of local meteorologist Scott Hetsko鈥檚 heart transplant experience at Strong Memorial Hospital, upstate New York's only heart transplant hospital. WROC Ch. 8 news anchor Maureen McGuire will address how Hetsko鈥檚 journey has raised greater awareness of the power of organ donation and the need to increase the number of organ donors on the state registry.聽
