EIOH Resident Spotlight - Dr. Giuseppe Carvelli
Giuseppe Carvelli, DMD (MS ’22), of Italy, is graduating from the Periodontology Residency Program. He plans to start working in private practice and teach part-time in periodontology and implant dentistry post-graduate programs.
He was lead author in a paper published in International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry late last year. He presented the paper at the local chapter of AADOCR. In addition, he was a speaker in December at the 2nd World Congress on Dentistry and Oral Health. His topic? A case report about the management of gingival soft tissues around a dental implant immediately placed in the esthetic area.

Q. Best memory of your EIOH residency?
A. Nights out after case presentations with my co-residents
Q. In what way did your EIOH experience allow you to grow professionally?
A. The professional and scientific guidance from faculty, together with help from co-residents and auxiliary staff, led me to exponentially improve my clinical and research skills during the past three years. The experience had in sharing our expertise with other departments made me a better communicator and teacher, which will be soft skills of great importance in my professional career.
Q. In what way did your EIOH experience allow you to grow personally?
A. EIOH felt a lot like a family and my goal during residency has been to bring positive energy and happiness to the people surrounding me. Life-long relationships have formed at Eastman, and I am grateful for it.
Q. What’s the best advice you ever received?
A. The devil is in the details.
Q. Favorite part of Rochester?
A. Park Avenue area and Highland Park
Q. Last time you were in awe?
A. Watching the wonderful colors of Letchworth park during fall season.
Q. The one thing you can’t live without?
A. Love and passion.
Q. A person who has inspired you?
A. The help received from my parents inspired me in being a better person each day.
Q. The one thing you’ve always wanted to do but never have.
A. Get a motorcycle and ride the whole route 66.
Q. If you could change one thing about yourself, it would be:
A. My bank account. Change it to more than 4 digits, possibly.
